Function
The Financial Research Division conducts empirical and theoretical research in the following areas: financial stability; financial institutions; financial markets; European financial integration; the operational framework for the implementation of monetary policy; international capital markets and financial linkages; and the design of payments and securities settlement systems. The division is also responsible for providing research-based policy advice and analytical tools in these areas. It contributes to external communication, focusing primarily on the academic community.
The successful applicant will be entrusted with the following main tasks:

-Conduct and publish high-quality research in principally any of the above-mentioned areas of the division. Research in the field of financial stability and macroprudential policy or on the design of the central bank operational frameworks would be particularly welcome. The research should be publishable in good economics or finance journals.

-Contribute to other responsibilities of the Directorate General, in particular contribution to ECB official publications and advising on policy. This may entail the preparation of analytical tools for advising and supporting policy discussions, possibly in collaboration with competent policy areas of the ECB.
Qualifications and experience
Applicants must have the following knowledge and competencies:

-An advanced university degree in economics/finance or a proven ability to perform the tasks required by the position. A doctorate degree (PhD) would be a strong asset.

-Strong analytical skills that enable the candidate to conduct creative high-quality theoretical and/or empirical research in the fields described above. ·

-A good publication record, preferably in the division’s areas of specialisation, would be an asset.

-Fluent command of English with proven drafting ability.
-
-A good knowledge of at least one other official language of the EU.
-
-A working knowledge of MS Office, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Behavioural Competencies
The successful candidate will have the following behavioural competencies:

-Ability to work without close supervision and in a team.
Duration of contract / Closing date
Short-term contract of 12 months with prolongation to a maximum of 24 months subject to performance and organisational need.
